Bone: The Great Cow Race

Bone: The Great Cow Race was the second episodic game from Telltale Games. It was released on April 12, 2006. Like it's predecessor, Bone: Out From Boneville, Bone: The Great Cow race adapted Jeff Smith's comic of the same name into video game form. Phoney tries to make money by convincing people to bet on his "mystery cow" in The Great Cow Race.

This is the last of the Bone games for now. Telltale wasn't able to reach their target audience of children as well as they had hoped. Also, Telltale was just getting the hang of the episodic gaming concept with the Bone games, and finally hit their stride with the concept with the Sam & Max series. Telltale learned in the process that the six month period between releases with the two Bone games was too long to keep an audience interested in the series. The one month time between releases of the Sam & Max and Strong Bad games worked best for Telltale, and the Bone games didn't fit into that mold as well. Telltale no longer holds the rights to make video games based on the Bone license, so the possibility of a third game seems unlikely.

The retail version of Bone: The Great Cow Race is out of print, but it can still be purchased digitally online through Steam.
