Myst is a third person adventure game that follows a Stranger who becomes stranded on a deserted island after touching an image of the island in a book. Now the stranger must find out what happened to the inhabitants of the island and find a way back home.

It's the best selling adventure game of all time, so, to be expected it is also the most ported and most remade adventure game of all time.  The original release occurred on September 24, 1993.  An updated version was released in May 2000, titled Myst: Masterpiece Edition. In November 2000, RealMyst, a remake of the game in full 3D, was released.  On February 5, 2014, an remake of RealMyst was released, titled RealMyst: Masterpiece Edition.  This version featured improved graphics, and ran on the Unity Engine.

The Windows version of Myst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition is now supported by ScummVM, a program designed to let 2D adventure games run on multiple platforms. With ScummVM, Myst now runs on modern versions of windows, as well as Linux, Mac OS X, and many consoles such as Dreamcast, Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.
