Adventure Gamers Previews The Penal Zone

Adventure Gamers has a hands on preview of The Penal Zone, the first episode of the third season of Sam & Max, The Devil's Playhouse.

The preview talks about minor plot points (but not too spoilery), increased graphic detail compared to the previous seasons, and the direct control method the game uses.

It's interesting to note that this preview is the first Telltale Games preview made by the former head of public relations at Telltale, Emily Morganti, since she left the company. She talks a bit about how different it is previewing a game from outside the company as opposed to from inside the company in her blog. It's an interesting read.

More Sierra Games Come Out of Retirement at GOG

GOG.com now has two more Sierra adventures available. The games are Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh, the sequel to the infamous horror adventure game by Roberta Williams. The third Gabriel Knight game, which is the last in the series, and also has the distinction of being the last Sierra adventure game ever released, is also available.

I have yet to play any game in either series, but I've heard good things about them, especially Gabriel Knight. I purchased Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, so I'll be filling the hole in my adventure game playing history soon, and I'll post a review up when I'm done. :)

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse Trailer

The trailer for Season Three of Sam & Max, The Devil's Playhouse, is now available for viewing.

The game will be available April 15th. It is now available for preorder at Telltale's website for the PC and Mac for $34.95 USD and on the PlayStation Network for the introductory price of $29.95 USD.

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition Coming

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition is coming to PC, Mac, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and iPhone this summer! Like the special edition for the first game, this will have new high definition artwork, music played with live instruments, and voice overs. The big news this time: the voices are both in the original and the high definition version. Also, there's going to be creator commentary and an in-game art viewer.

The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition is also coming to more platforms. Mac and PlayStation Network users will soon be able get the game. The game will also be for sale at the Telltale Games Store in the future.

Speaking of the Telltale store, there's a bunch of new Monkey Island stuff available. The Tales of Monkey Island DVD is available to preorder, there's a new set of buttons, a replica of the Voodoo Lady's tarot card set, a Tales of Monkey Island drinking mug, a Tales of Monkey Island T-shirt, a portfolio of concept art by Ryan Church, and a deluxe edition of the game that includes a replica piece of eight, an exclusive tarot card not available in the tarot card set, a trial of the century button, and a replica of Van Winslow's map.
